Sidney Federal Credit Union Offers College Bound High School Seniors a Chance to Win Scholarships

Sidney, NY – James A. Doig, President/CEO of Sidney Federal Credit Union (SFCU) today announced that they will once again be offering all local high school seniors, attending college for the first time in the fall of 2012, a chance to win a scholarship to help finance their education. SFCU is participating in a statewide credit union scholarship program, through the Credit Union Association of New York (CUANY) that will offer SFCU members (college-bound high school seniors) the chance to win one of five $1,000 scholarships or several $500 scholarships.

To be eligible, all scholarship applicants are required to be a New York State creditunion member, a college bound high school senior, plan on attending college for the first time in the fall of 2012, plan on enrolling in either a two or four year accredited educational institution. Applications for these scholarships will be judged by the CUANY on academic achievements, extracurricular and community activities and the quality of their written essay.

In addition, SFCU will once again offer ten of their own $1,000 scholarships to *qualifying students through this same program.

*Qualifying students must be a member of SFCU and a college-bound high school senior attending high school in SFCU's current field of membership which includes: Chenango, Delaware, Otsego Counties, and the Town of Colesville.

Scholarship applications are available at any of SFCU's conveniently located branches, and online sfcuonline.org. All applications must be returned to SFCU no later than Friday, January 20, 2012. Winners will be announced in April 2012.
